I believe we should. But we often cringe at the thought of having an unorthodox, or “a weird” set up. Why… If it’s going to make us better golfers???
The answer is likely linked to ‘the search for the perfect swing:’
Sadly. For a lot of us. (myself included) It’s possibly rooted in insecurity and vanity. *Not for everyone, but for some of us:
We care more about the way our swings look, or worse (yet closer to the truth), more about what people think, about the way our swings look.
It could be said that:
“We are placing more emphasis on looking good, than playing good.”
LET ME BE CLEAR:
I’m not saying you shouldn’t make swing changes!!! But you shouldn’t make swing changes just to ‘look better.’
You should make swing changes to ‘perform better.’
TO THE GOLFER AND NOT THE GOLF COACH:
If you want to get more enjoyment out of golf, learn to love your game. Embrace your style. Love your swing.
NOW:
- If you’ve got the shanks, it’s going to be difficult to love that!!!!
- You’re obviously hitting the heel… A LOT!!!
- But you don’t need to be so critical of yourself.
- You just need to move the strike an inch closer to the centre of the club face.
- Simple right???
- Not rebuild your entire swing.
- (It will just feel unnatural)
One final truth before I love and leave you:
“How,” is not as important, as “How Many.”
